My Design story.

I originally studied accounting in post-secondary while working as a supervisor at the campus café. It was in this space where I discovered the excitement and possibilities of design. The café gave me opportunities to explore my potential – creating posters, advertisement, catering platters and menus which the café still uses to this day. A whole new world had opened up to me.

One day, during a particularly busy shift, I met with a friend during my break who dropped the bombshell that changed my career direction forever. A few simple words, “You are too creative for this place”. I knew at that moment that I had to drop it all and find a future in design. I pursued my passion and successfully graduated from RED Academy with my Diploma in UI Design in the Spring of 2020. I am excited to step into the stage of creators and employ the skills I have learned, while striving to continuously grow my experience and creative toolkit.

Why Design?

“History is repeating itself”

Much like how I dress, older trends are coming back. There used to be a lack of jobs around for the younger age demographic. This caused a lot of millennials to resort to entrepreneurship and start their own businesses. This led to Slack, Uber, Airbnb, and many more companies we know and use today.

Our new creative tech generation is going to enter a market with an opening to entrepreneurship and we are going to have to think creatively. Now, more than ever, is the time to dream big and find new ways to live in the future.

Everyday there are more problems in technology and this leaves it to designers to get creative, solve new problems, and create a brighter future. We need to stay Interested, be Inspired, and be Designers.
